Have you dreamed of leaving the United States and moving to France to teach English?
Is the idea of getting a job abroad in Europe tiresome and confusing?
If you’re like me, the idea of applying for a job in France and going through the interview process is overwhelming.
Maybe you don’t know where to find a good teaching job that pays well, or how to get a work visa in France that allows you to work there in the first place.
These are all valid concerns. And I’m here to help guide you through the process step-by-step.
After living in France for over five years and teaching at four different universities, I’ve become a pro at getting a job teaching English in France.
Turns out, it’s not as difficult as you think
You might think there are no jobs available to foreigners that provide work visas.
But actually, there are tons of foreigners hired every year as English teachers for well-paying, stable jobs at the university level.
Perhaps you might think that even if there are jobs like that, that you’re not qualified to apply.
You’d be surprised!
In fact, if you have a university degree and a basic understanding of French, moving to France is a lot easier than you’d think.
If you’re a native English speaker, you’re already highly qualified.
While teaching experience is a big plus, surprisingly, it isn’t as important a requirement as having a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree.
Your major is also not as important as you’d think.
Not having majored in French or English can actually be an advantage.
Why? Because if you’re teaching English to business students, then your lessons should cover business topics, for example. The same goes for engineering, biology, law, environmentalism, sports, and other subjects.
So, how do you get a job teaching ESL in France?
Because France is such an in-demand place to live, and will continue to be in the long-term, applying and securing these jobs teaching English at the university level isn’t easy. You’ll have a lot of competition!
That’s where I come in: Hi, I’m Alex!
